Veterans & HealthCARE

Health care for our veterans should be free or cost less than the average person. There's no doubt about it. These individuals fought hard for our country the least the government can do to pay them back is give them health care benefits. The cost for health care hasn't increased in eleven years so what's the reason for increasing it now. The government spends a lot of money, but if they needed to cut down on money it shouldn't come from health care. Health care is already a big part of our country's well being, it shouldn't be altered for the worse but for the better.

SUPPLY & DEMAND.

What is Supply & Demand?

What is the economy without the Supply and Demand theory? It is one of the most important concepts of the market economy. Demand is based on the public. It's the amount of a product or service people the "buyers" are willing to purchase and at what certain price. Now the demand relationship is very easy. It's basically the relationship between price and demand. Now supply, is how much the market can offer or produce for the buyers. The relationship between price and how much of a good or service is available to the market is known as the supply relationship.

Determination of Prices:

Price is based on the interaction of supply and demand. Equilibrium price is when the buyers and sellers can come to an agreement on a price. The less amounts of a product there is the more money a consumer would have to pay in order to balance the ration the shortage.  If a lot of one product is produced, also known as a surplus, producers would have to lower their prices in order to sell all products and not have any excess . Prices control whether supply and demand are at an equilibrium.

In this chart it shows the clear relationship between supply and demand. The red lines show the relationship between price and supply. As supply increases the price decreases. The blue line shows how as the supply decreases, the price increases along with it.

WOMEN IN COMBAT

Female combat veterans are suffering now rather than when they were actually at war. Why?

Post traumatic stress disorders are coming about due to the services these females once gave in combat. This article explains how women distance themselves from people avoiding embarrassment. They isolate from their spouses and even children. The women seek to be alone because they feel that they are people of high rankings in the military so they cannot be seen as someone who is "mentally unstable". Although women aren't even allowed to fight on ground or in front line they are still suffering from this disorder just as much as the men who do actually fight on ground. Women usually are hit harder by this because, unlike a man she can't hit the bar once she comes home to drink her inner thoughts away. She's eventually left to deal with this all by herself.

Being Smart With Money

Some teens use money wisely. They do this early in their lives. Explain why this is important.
Look at the news story for help. Use your own ideas, too.
Its important to use money wisely early in our lives because we can save money that we might need later on. Also because we can get accustomed to good money spending habits, that will carry on into our adulthood. The financial plans we create now can very well have long term results based on the amount of money we wind up saving from it.

Walking Lightly

Humans don't appreciate the planet we live on. Well at least it was proven to me that I sure don't. I took an ecological footprint test and I realized that the way I was living wasn't too healthy. Not only was I possibly hurting my budget, but my planet too. The living habits we the people have nowadays is entirely too spoiled and what we don't understand is that we don't know for how much longer we're going to have this wonderful natural resource filled planet at our dispense. In this blog, I'm going to be giving you an inside look at my steps toward change. I know that just by me changing my habits I wont be able to save the planet on my own, but I might be able to inspire many others into changing their lifestyle and possibly causing a domino effect towards a better planet.

DAY 1: This morning I found myself re-using a plastic bottle I had in my house from yesterday. Simple recycling just so I wouldn't purchase another one from the store. I plan on doing this for however long I can go. The less plastic thrown away the better. Why buy something I have at home and can just keep refilling and keep using?
DAY 2: Today instead of eating fast food, I'll be eating fruits and organic foods. Also I stopped plugging in my devices to use less energy. Being on them less, means I wont have to be charging them as much and like this I'll help save energy. This morning, I took a shorter shower, and made sure to cut the water from running while I brushed my teeth. I used to let it run while I brushed but that's a lot of water that's not being used.

MY ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

                                    = 3.33 Earths

This was my first planet score 3.33 earths would be needed if everyone on our planet had the same lifestyle I do. This is entirely too much, we should all need just one planet to live on. What this score is basically telling me is that i need to change up some of my living habits in order to keep our planet in good condition. We tend to abuse the fact that we have so many natural resources that we don't realize how much we're hurting our planet. Just because we have a lot of something doesn't mean we can go ahead and use all of it. We need to learn to be smart users.

= 2.03 Earths

The score I got the second time I took the ecological footprint test was 2 earths. It decreased from 3 earths and that was because the answers I had to choose were more pro-earth. Pro-earth meaning that I was making decisions that would not only help me save money, but save my planet as well. Instead of taking the train/bus/car to work or school I'd walk. This was decrease the amount of pollution in the air because there would be less automobiles and buses being used. Also in our homes we have plenty of ways of saving energy. Simple methods like using fluorescent light bulbs, solar panels & and just unplugging electronics when they're not in use. In order to score 1 earth I'd have to do all these things and more. I could start off by just living in a smaller home and recycling any chance I get.

How feasible is it to live a one planet existence now? Well nowadays that's pretty easy because we have all the energy saving methods, we have enough knowledge as human beings in what it is to save. We don't necessarily need to walk everywhere we go but we can ride our bikes to work and school instead of hopping on the train or bus. The government and society can help the cause too though. If we're capable of creating ads to persuade the people to buy a certain item, we can also persuade one another to live a one earth existence. We can promote easy and quick ways to save money, energy and keep our planet going.

Although we have the power to do so, in the times we're living in now that's not whats on the mind of our fellow people. We focus too much on getting and not giving anything in return. We all want the newest gadgets but we're not paying close attention to what needs to be done in order to get these "gadgets" in our hands. We're using all of our natural resources and we're not being careful that the more we use the less we'll have later on in our future. The cellular devices that we're on constantly  nowadays, where did they come from? They didn't just appear at our doorstep like a magic trick. They weren't sent into our planet by aliens from outer space, so where did they come from? Natural resources. The metal, wood, and other things that we use every single day all comes from our planet. The sad part of all of this, is that we have the power to save our planet, but yet we manage to be so selfish and hurt it.

KRUGMAN JOB PROPOSAL

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTVkptLT2Rr5wy3H8iEAbbHo1ndFa65SXwx67GEi-6G85nTH2h9

[Krugman has a plan for the creation of jobs which he feels is going to improve our living conditions in our country's depression.]

Paul Krugman is addressing the fact that there arent enough jobs for the people and he has an economic stimulus plan to solve the issue. He claims that his plan will help us overcome the current recession that we're going through as a country. Krugman states that jobs are important in helping the economy prosper and keep us from falling into a depression. In his interview with Moyer he says, that when one spends the other gains more income and vice versa. He feels that saving money hurts us as a whole, because while we try to spend less to save more we wont succeed. In his plan he lets us know that jobs allow us to balance between the money spent and the money saved. Krugman wants to enforce the fact that our country needs full employment, meaning a 5% unemployment rate. He wants Obama to help create more jobs for the people. The jobs Krugman speaks of arent any sophisticated, even simple jobs like building roads, fixing tracks and other things can help our economy. The way to get these jobs up and running is through the spending of government. He actually feels that his stimulus plan will take our country a long way.

WO"MEN" v MEN

Over the years men have been seen as the head of the family. But not only have they been put on a pedestal in family matters, they have also been put on a pedestal in the work force. The gender inequality issue that we have in the U.S is not something that just began. This issue has been around for a while and as the years pass it seems to be getting worse and worse. Women have always been treated less then the men in the work force. The question I have for you is why? If both men and women are working the same amounts of time and they have equal jobs why are women underpaid? This issue is important because people have tried fighting the discrimination between men and women in the labor force by creating regulations and programs but yet the problem has failed to cease. How can a problem that's  been embedded in our culture be solved?

Times are hard for people living in the U.S and yet women are underpaid. Women are earning $10,784 less than the men they are working with every year, as found by the National Partnership for Women and Families. That's a lot of money that a female can be earning per year that she isn't because of the simple fact that the job distribution between men and women is very unfair. "Work plays a significant component in shaping power and status for both women and men, " as said in a report by someone who attends University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India. This comes to show that not only do we have gender inequality problems in the US but also in other countries around the world. If work shapes power and status for men and women why do men have a higher status in society than women do? Like many cases in the US and in other countries, there are single parents out there taking care of a home. If women are being underpaid how does that help the cause? Both genders should be equally treated in the work place because you never know what ones economic status is. Society just looks at this issue as differences and discrimination in gender but they aren't looking at the big picture. If our country stands for equality among all those who live in it, how do we ourselves discriminate between gender? I believe that women and men should be offered the same jobs and paid the same  amount.

On the other hand people feel that the reason for the pay differences aren't based on gender bias but because of something else. Based on an article in Time U.S by Laura Fitzpatrick women are being paid less because of the type of jobs that they find themselves working in. " Women tend to cluster in lower-paying fields" meaning that women who do have a high education seem to choose occupations like teaching and nursing, while men who also have higher educations have jobs as business executives, scientists, doctors and lawyers who get paid more. The Census Bureau in 2007 found that women earned less money in all of the 20 industries and 25 occupations that they surveyed but have yet to find out why.

To wrap this all up gender bias jobs will always be around. Society has just been sexist in the work force for as long as anyone can remember. Nobody knows why but that's just the world we live in. Maybe if a law is made that can control the wages for men and women in the same work places, then equality can be accomplished. But until then we will never know how to deal with the situation.
